Mathematics

Brentwood Secondary College provides a comprehensive mathematics curriculum from Years 7 to 12, that caters for a wide range of student abilities, while at the same time provides all students with the basic mathematical skills required for everyday life.

The mathematics program is enriched though:

• Project work.
• Appropriate structuring to allow advanced groups from Years 8 to 10.
• The ability for students to work at a year level of mathematics above their current level.
• Encouraging participation in the Australian Mathematics Competition.
• Encouraging participation in the Australian Mathematics Challenge.
• The appropriate use of technology.

While students are always encouraged to excel, modified curriculum provides access to achievement in the area of mathematics for students unable to experience a satisfactory level of success in the mainstream courses.

The Junior and Middle School Program is designed to adequately prepare students for the rigours of VCE mathematics, now integrating the use of the CAS calculator technology into the existing Year 10 program.
